No, I’m not a comedian. Not even on my funniest day. 

But, I am good at dreaming u ideas, creating a plan, and getting stuff done.  You can read about how all that came into play in the article about us in AARP Magazine at the bottom of this page.

My tasks with TIOC are selling tickets, managing an audience, dealing with the venue, and working this site, etc.  Fortunately, for me and the audience, we have Sandy Bernstein finding and booking the comedians … the hard part of the business.  Every show I say, “Thank You Sandy, for the amazing job you do for all of us.”

My vision of the future for Try It Out Comedy?  Keep doing one show a month, until we cannot do it at a level that meets the expectation of the comedians, the audience, and the venue.  As I write this, we have 40 shows behind us, including a lost period for the Covid issue, and we see a wonderful continuous period ahead.

My satisfaction comes from a combination of factors:

• Being able to provide folks in the community a way to enjoy a night out, with many laughs, at a relatively low cost; 

• Bring our venue new and repeat customers, so they want us in their restaurant;

• Enable comedians an opportunity to perform for a live audience, so they get whatever it is that drives them to take the risk of standing in front of 70 - 80 people and getting them to laugh, knowing there is no safety net, no backup plan, just them and a microphone.
